Day 21

Slept behind the post office in Roosevelt and got everything all changed up with one of there outside plugs. While I waited for the PO to open I did some much needed sewing on my sea to summit silk liner. Mailed home a few things like my Tarp, extra socks, frisbee, and Stove. 3lbs in all. Now I'm ultralight and have lots more space for food. Heres to hoping it doesn't rain.

Day 20

Town day... I only had about 6 miles to hike to get to the road. When I got there I got a hitch with an RV deliverer. His name was Kevin S. Also. His birthday was one week from mine. We were the same age and both had been married and divorced. We were having such a fun time talking that we totally missed the town of Roosevelt. By the time we realize it we were closer to the town of Globe. So I said, just take me in there. When we got there we got some Sonic and chilled for a bit. Then he went back to his delivery. I went looking for an electrical outlet. Found one on the side of a wellsfargo. It was sunday so they were closed and hopefully wouldn't mind me sitting outside. Next I did some shopping figuring the supermarkets here would be better and cheaper then the little town of Roosevelt. I was right. Unfortunately getting back to Roosevelt wasn't easy. A 25 mile hitch that I was only able to get 8 miles worth of ride out of. So I walked the rest of the way back to town on a bum foot. Not fun. Maybe it was my shorts? Luckly I made it into town before the restaurant closed and got to eat a nasty pulled pork sandwich (yum) while watching the Simpsons. When I was done I walked across the street to the back of the Post Office and set up camp. Found a plug outside and plugged in all my electronics overnight. Tomorrow I get to mail some stuff home.

Day 19

Waking up on Montana Mountain.
I thought about starting my day before sunrise.
Then I decided to sleep in instead.
It didn't take long for me to miss the first trailhead and add a extra mile on my day.
When back on trail I was able to get some water just past the Roger Trough TH.
Then I snacked on some manzanita flowers for fun.
Lots of trails here in the Superstition Wilderness.
Making it easy to get off track.
Woolly Paint Brushes are starting to bloom.
Lots of steep climbing today.
having so little food for this section sucked because it zapped my energy.
Since my shoes decided to give out on me a week ago my left foot has been hurting.
I've been taking it easy on it with a slower pace.
And taking breaks in the mid afternoon when its hottest just to get off of it for awhile.
Around 5pm I was feeling drained from only eating 500 calories all day.
It was making me clumsy.
I'd done about 18 miles so far and decided not to go the full 13 more miles to town.
Instead to take it slow and see where it gets me.
Being low on water I hiked until I found something other then cow ponds to drink from.
Following the cottonwood trail which is really just a washed out rocky creek.
I was soon under some cottonwoods trees and nearing the seasonal spring.
Luckly for me it was flowing water because I was down to my last 2 ounces.
I chugged a liter and took a liter and a half to go.
I was ready to be done with today's hiking now.
So all there was left to do was find of flat spot.
It was getting dark now and the trail had become pretty over grown.
Unfortunately I couldn't find a flat spot for another mile and a half.
Leaving me 6 miles away from town after a 26 mile day.
I can't wait for breakfast tomorrow.
